The Double Oak Community

The benefit of being part of a small town is the close-knit relationship formed between the citizens and the first responders who care for them.  We find events such as the annual 4th of July Parade and Picnic as well as the Santa Meet and Greet, are wonderful ways for us to connect with our residents.

Parade Information

Parade:

The parade starts at 9:30am.  No sign-up necessary, just show up at the line location at 8:30am, at the corner of Simmons and the north entrance of The Oaks.  Parade with course down Cross Timbers Drive ending at John B Wright Park.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • Please remember this is a community event.  Please keep all floats and signage appropriate for young children.
  • You are free to toss candy and party favors during the parade.  Please make sure to throw them into grassy areas to keep children from going into the street to retrieve them.  No alcohol products are to be thrown out during the parade.
  • Parents, please try to keep your children from going onto the street during the parade.
  • Horses are welcome during the parade, they must have a poop bag or scoopers.  Any horses without this will be placed at the end of the line.

Picnic:

Picnic from 10-2 @ John B. Wright Park.  We’ll have all the stuff you need for a good picnic – food, drinks, music by Triple Lindy, water slide, bounce houses, and a silent auction.

  • Horses are not permitted on picnic grounds.

Donations/Volunteers:

We can always use donations for the silent auction and/or the event, and volunteers!

All those who donate will be acknowledged both on our webpage at www.DOVFD.org and on a banner at the event.  Allocations are as follows: $1,000+ Chief, $500-$999 – Captain,  $250-$499 – Lieutenant, $100-$249 Firefighter, and below $100 – Rookie. Additionally, those who provide cash donations (sponsorship) will be recognized via signs on the event grounds. We would appreciate any assistance your company could provide.

Our Sincere Thanks to Our 2025 Sponsors

Being able to continue to support our Double Oak community is due in large part to generous donations and support from our community sponsors listed below.

Santa Claus Around Town!

Double Oak is going to have a VIP guest this holiday season!  On Sunday, December 10, 2023, Santa will be in town cruising the streets of Double Oak beginning at 12pm.  Our firefighters will be escorting him through every neighborhood on a fire engine as he wishes the young and young at heart a very Merry Christmas and happy holiday season.  When he gets close to your house, you’ll see the lights and hear the sirens so make sure to come outside, meet and get a picture with Santa and tell him what you would like for Christmas.
